Best Hotel Beds – And Where You Can Buy Them

The Best Hotel Beds for Travelers

After a long day of travel, standing on your feet at a conference, or rushing around to various meetings, the quality of sleep you receive in your hotel room can make or break your entire trip. Often your sleep quality depends on how comfortable your hotel bed and pillows are.

Once during a business trip, the hotel bed was so uncomfortable; I actually took the couch cushions off the couch and slept on them on top of the bed. Needless to say, that was the last time I ever stayed at that hotel chain.

While the famous saying “There is no place like home” applies 100% to your quality of sleep, hotels are trying harder than ever to offer you the most comfortable night of sleep while you are away from home. To help you avoid sleepless nights, and back or neck pain due to an uncomfortable hotel sleeping arrangement, I have conducted research and put together a list of the best hotel beds.

The Best Hotel Beds

  • DoubleTree by Hilton
  • Fairmont Hotels & Resorts
  • Hilton Hotels & Resorts
  • Loews Resorts
  • Viceroy Hotel & Resorts
  • W Hotels
  • Westin Hotels & Resorts

The hotel beds included on our list are so popular, some hotels on our list actually sell them online, along with bedding and pillows.

Westin– The infamous Heavenly Bed at the Westin Hotels ensures a restful night with the 13” pillow top mattress and 250 thread count sheets. Westin’s Heavenly bed was among the first beds to be desired by the general public and available for sale online. The Heavenly pillows are designed to support your head with a plush, blended-fill, and to elevate your well-being through a good night’s sleep.

You can sleep on the supportive and hypo-allergenic pillows at home when you buy them from Amazon. The 400- thread count, hypoallergenic Westin mattress pad may provide the Heavenly experience without the hefty new mattress price. You can complete your amazing Westin sleeping experience at home by ordering a Westin White Tea Scent Aromatherapy Diffuser for your bedroom.

Loews Resorts: Travel blogger, Cora Harrison, told us after staying a Loews Resort at Universal Studios she had one shipped back to her home in the UK.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts: After a redesign and relaunch in 2016, the Fairmont’s mattresses are highly sought after and available for purchase. There are two mattresses available, both made by Sealy.

Hilton– The Hilton’s well known Serenity Bed was designed by Serta to provide a “restful slumber”. The added coil support and internal design prevent mattress breakdown, and the patented quilted design improves circulation and reduces restlessness according to the Hilton website, where you can also purchase this mattress.

DoubleTree by Hilton- The DoubleTree offers the Sweet Dreams bed, specially designed and constructed with a movement-reducing foundation and quality top. As an added bonus the mattress is flame resistant.

Marriott– the Marriott calls its bed the Marriott Bed. Guests love this bed because the quick-foam reduces the “sinking” feeling that you may feel in other mattresses (especially when sleeping with a partner next to you). Marriott also offers an Innerspring bed which is preferable for those who prefer a firmer mattress.

You can find the extra plush mattress topper that is used in Marriott Hotels, the Exceptional Sheets Pillowtop Mattress Pad with Fitted Skirt, on Amazon in various sizes. The Marriott Bed is also available on Amazon (from Marriott).

Hyatt- The Hyatt’s signature Grand Bed and Grand Bed II are soft and designed to provide extra lower back support. Additionally, the mattresses reduce the effect of your partner movements.

W Hotel– the W Hotel beds feature a quilted pillow top over a pocketed coil core made by Simmons, which reduces motion transfer and provides the ultimate level of support and comfort. Hotel guests describe it as sleeping on a cloud. 10-year manufacturer warranty. Pillow top mattress crown height: 13”. Standard box spring height of 9″. King mattress: 76″ x 80″.

It is also important to note that the hotel beds listed above will be found in most locations, but not all. From my experience, it depends on if the hotel is operated by a franchisee or corporate office. The hotel chain that landed me on the couch cushions is included on this list and I can assure you the mattress in that hotel was not even close to the quality of mattress listed above.

Best Hotel Pillows

Let us not forget how important the pillow is to your quality of sleep. The same hotel chain that I have mentioned above also is notorious for having uncomfortable pillows. Many hotels offer a few pillow choices in the room so you have a choice between firm and soft. Hotels are also beginning to provide pillow menus, which allow you to select from a variety of pillows. I have taken advantage of this on a few occasions and really did sleep well with my pillow selections.

Where To Buy Hotel Pillows

Do you want to buy hotel pillows online? We have found a few sources that you can purchase hotel pillows.

  1. I had no idea that there were some hotels that were known for having better quality beds and pillows. I always had the idea that hotels just went with average beds to save money. However, now that I know that there are some hotels with more comfortable beds than others I will have to look into that the next time I go on vacation. On of my favorite parts of vacation is being able to sleep in so I will definitely do more research on that.

    1. Conrad Hilton in Dublin, Ireland has the BEST beds so much so that I would stay there again simply for a perfect night of rest.

    2. My All TIME favorite mattress is from The Ritz Carlton. They are so soft and you fall asleep very quickly and have an entire nights sleep. I have stayed in several RC all over and everytime I stay, best sleep ever.

    1. I just stayed at a Holiday Inn this weekend and had the best nights sleep I’ve had in a while! I’m looking for their mattress and pillows now!

  2. Looking for a new mattress but don’t want to break the bank. What would you suggest for first time buyer? Thank you for your reply.

    1. Janet, I don’t travel that much, but am looking for a new mattress. Although I have not yet purchased, I’m looking at Saatva Mattresses. It’s solely an online purchase, but the customer service reviews are 5 star rated, with a 120 in home trial, and return or swap for a $99.00 fee. They only offer 3 comfort levels, which is great, because of so many choices, it’s confusing. Good luck!

      1. Randy – did you get a Saatva mattress? If so, what do you think of it?

Also looking at one as the S&F I have is way too heavy and saggy after just 7 years – and only me in the bed!

  3. How often do these hotels replace the mattresses? We buy an expensive mattress and within two years it seems to be breaking down. Or do hotel mattresses get less use than a home mattress due to midweek slowdowns in customers? Or—- with only one person in the bed (the business traveler) vs a married couple sharing the home mattress perhaps the mattress holds up longer?

  4. I loved the mattress at The Breakers in West Palm Beach, they told me it is a pranasleep super vinyasa. Looked it up…a $6000 mattress. Sheesh.

  5. Do you know where I can find a Hilton, Grand Bell Bed? My partner and I are searching for the bed (we both suffer with poor sleep and wake with back pain). The Hilton bed was amazing. The best sleep we’ve ever had. Unfortunately, they don’t sell them anymore. Any help you could provide in finding one is appreciated. Thanks.

  6. The very best mattresses for quick sleep mode and early painless rise is the Florida Tampa Seminole Hard Rock Casino. The best bed rest ever!

  7. The best mattress for my lower back problems I have ever slept on was at the DoubleTree in Spokane, Washington. Does anyone know what make and model that mattress is?

  8. Would you know whether the Hilton bed or the Hampton bed is considered more comfortable ? They seem to be about the same price and they are both under the Hilton Hotels umbrella.

  9. Thanks for the amazing post. It is really good to read and benefits to use of linen product bed sheets. Keep more posting about this and to know very well?
