Bleisure Report: Work Hard, Play Hard in New Orleans
Millions of people travel each year to New Orleans on business trips or for conversions. It’s a one-of-a-kind city, that offers endless places for business travelers to eat, stay, drink, and maybe even possibly get some work done too!
Where to Stay
You should keep a couple of things in mind when traveling to New Orleans. First, where is your convention happening? While some may take place in varied spots, most will happen in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. In addition, almost every visitor to New Orleans will want to spend at least a little time on Bourbon Street. But staying directly on the street itself can be costly, if you desire more than a couple hours of sleep each night. Instead, it’s often a far better idea to stay somewhere near both the convention center and the Bourbon Street, while enjoying the hospitality and history of the French Quarter. In this case, a hotel like the Historic Chateau LeMoyne is the perfect mix of location, price, and luxury.
Where to Eat & Drink
Possibly the most famous thing in New Orleans is its food, and if you’re traveling for business it’s a part you won’t want to skip out on! There’s an incredible amount of world-class restaurants in the Big Easy. For your standard, traditional meals, no one has ever gone wrong with Galatoire’s (in the French Quarter) or Commander’s Palace (in the Garden District). Looking for something a bit more modern? SoBou and Peche are two of the newer New Orleans restaurants that are on most travelers to-eat lists!
Where to Play
While many might think of only Bourbon Street when they hear “New Orleans”, the city is full of a variety of things that the whole family can enjoy. There are dozens of museums, including the National World War II Museum and several Audubon Museums. For music lovers, you can spend an entire weekend just on Frenchmen street. Sports fans can enjoy the Pelicans in the Smoothie King Center, the Saints in the Dome, or even the newly named Baby Cakes.
